Greenland’s leader issues 3-word slapdown to Donald Trump

Donald Trump’s desire to purchase Greenland has ignited significant protests across the island nation. In Nuuk, the capital, thousands took to the streets in what is being called the largest demonstration in Greenland’s history.

Protesters, chanting slogans such as “Greenland is ours” and “We are not for sale,” rallied not just in Nuuk but in multiple cities, highlighting the broad resistance to Trump’s remarks.

Greenland’s acting Prime Minister, Múte B. Egede, firmly stated, “Greenland belongs to us. We are not for sale,” reinforcing the nation’s sovereignty.

He condemned external pressure on their land as unacceptable. Meanwhile, protesters voiced their disapproval of Trump’s actions, with one remarking, “He hasn’t acted appropriately,” while also stressing that not all Greenlanders have a favorable view of the U.S.

The protests brought together Greenlanders from all walks of life, including political leaders from opposing parties, showcasing a united front in defense of their sovereignty.

As the situation unfolds, the debate remains heated, with no indication that the island will waver in its stance.
